What is the China Space Monitor?

China Space Monitor brings monthly insights on the fast-moving yet relatively unknown Chinese space industry. Levering data from our large and growing China Space Industry Database, the Monitor is delivered at the end of each month with a feature story and a sampling of the month’s major news updates. We aim for holistic, objective analysis. China Space Monitor is a collaboration between Blaine Curcio (editor-in-chief) and Jean Deville (regular contributor).

About the authors

Blaine Curcio has been covering the Chinese space industry as an analyst and consultant since 2012, initially covering global satellite communications (incl. China) and focusing on the broader space sector since 2017. Based in Hong Kong, Blaine is Managing Director of Orbital Gateway Consulting, where he oversees collection and visualization of Chinese space industry metrics and datapoints for a variety of clients.

Jean Deville has been covering the Chinese space industry for the past 5 years. Based in Paris, Jean has spent over 12 years in Mainland China and Taiwan, and speaks fluent Mandarin. Jean has a background in aerospace engineering and offers technical expertise to various Chinese space industry ongoings. He also an astrophotography nut, and is the host of the Dongfang Hour China Space Channel.
